VISTA

The bad side of Vista
Windows Review - by Dick

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Price. There's no way around this one. Upgrading to Vista doesn't just mean spending up to $400 (P19000+) on software, but also cash on RAM and video card upgrades, or buying a new PC altogether. If Vista was a $100 upgrade that anyone could use, it'd be a top seller, I'm sure.

2) Nothing new to see here. Love the visual style, but does photo tagging and 3-D window flipping really merit an upgrade?

3) It's annoying. I don't know any Vista user who hasn't turned off User Account Control, which nags you with an "Are you sure?" prompt every time you try to do anything beyond run the calculator. Yet UAC is the linchpin of Vista's vaunted new security system. Without it, it's really no different than XP.

4) Tons of stuff is incompatible with Vista. An acquaintance of mine got a new PC with Vista preinstalled. Neither her scanner nor her printer had Vista drivers ready. Both peripherals cost several hundred bucks, and now they're essentially paperweights (though the printer, at some unforseeable time in the future, may work again). Lots of software won't run on Vista, either, but it's the hardware incompatibilities that are daunting. (Update: Looks like the scanner driver's finally ready.)

5) It's confusing. Everything that XP could do, Vista can do... only it's buried under a different menu and it has a new name. While average users probably never use many of these settings, power users have found themselves starting from scratch to relearn Windows.

6) It's busted. Try connecting to a printer on your network that's hooked up to an XP machine. Or try downloading a file with a third-party application and then accessing it via another PC on the network. I won't go into a list of the endless bugs and flaws with the design of Vista, because I don't really have to: Vista needs a Service Pack already.

BUT WHO CARES IV GOT 1 ANYWAY
Sick.

With a Hungry stomach cos i didn't had anything to eat.. Cos my mom and dad were at vivo city looking for phones for me.

The importance of having friends who Disagree

Everyone knows the Importance of Havin Friends but what about the importance of having friends who Disagrees with the stuff you say.

Paul Graham says, in one of his essays (emphasis mine) "....Why do you need other people? Can't you just think of new ideas yourself? The empirical answer is: no. Even Einstein needed people to bounce ideas off. Ideas get developed in the process of explaining them to the right kind of person. You need that resistance, just as a carver needs the resistance of the wood.
This is one reason Y Combinator has a rule against investing in startups with only one founder. Practically every successful company has at least two. And because startup founders work under great pressure, it's critical they be friends....."

In my experience, this need for "friendly resistance" extends to far more than creating startups. Every time you have a new idea, you need people you can bounce it off. To get any real benefit out of this process you need people with a complex combination of characteristics.

They should

have firm (but not rigid) opinions on their own
have logical reasons for those beliefs and be able to articulate them clearly
are driven by ideas and not ideology
not attach their egos to their opinions.
be willing to concede a valid argument even if it forces them to possibly re-examine their beliefs
know how to listen
Given all that, it is extremely difficult to find such "friends who disagree". I have been fortunate to have quite a few people around me, who have major disagreements with me, but are still friends

Many people make the mistake of surounding themselves with people who think exactly like them and reinforce every idea or prejudice they have. This is a bad mistake and will often end up distorting the reality you see. One needs the corrective bucket of cold water in one's face once every so often. The only problem with surrounding yourself with bright people who think differently is that you may occasionally find that one of your ideas isn't as hot as you think it was or that one of your deeply held convictions is just plain wrong. This is dificult for some people because they make the rightness of their ideas a validation of their worth as persons. Blogging is a great way to expand this circle. But it can work both ways and one may end up with a "fan club" that just reinforces your prejudices.

So do a quick test right now. Make a list of your closest friends/acquintances/advisors. Then make a separate list of those who think totally differently from you, but are worth listening to anyway. Look at the intersection of these lists.

You may be surprised.

Make Criticism Work for you

Often when we ask for comments, what we usually hope to get are compliments. Who wants to be circisied anyway? After all, criticism always seem to wound our pride and deflate our ego.
But are all criticism malicious and biased?Should we simply block off these sharp remarks and pretend we have not heard them?
On the hand, can criticism be objective and constructive? Can Criticism really help us to imrpove? How should we react when we are criticised?
When our pride has be bruised, it is not easy to look at at things from an penetrating remakrs, we get sore and the slightest provocation can easily spark off a rage. We become hypersensitive and suspicious, and often we start to shut ourself off from any further comments even if these are acutally well-meaning,
After our self-esteem has take a beating, we start to react impusively to every word and every nuance. If we lose control over feelings and allow our frustrations to be released uncurbed, we can only make the situation worse. Hasty reactions seldom help to remedy the situation. If anything, it will merely worsen the things and show that we are unable to accept advice graciously.

at school

Well the weather was extremely heavy today..
And while i was in Bus 33, on the way to school.. I was so lucky to get a place right under the bloody aircon that was at full speed. I was thinking to myself " GOD WHEN IS THE FUCKING BUS GONNA REACH MY SCHOOL!! I WANNA GET DOWN." then i said to myself: Nevermind i'll endure this..zzz...

Finnaly after like what seemed a ice age i reached the bloody school and got caught in the downpour and i spoilt my earpiece under the rain. Well at that point u'd think things couldnt get any worse.. but guess what? IT DID.. When i checked the shelf at the back of my class, my A maths Txtbook, Physics, Chemistry books were all missing. I was like fuming mad.. i thought someone stole my books again...

So i thought i'd borrow some books from 3-1 first (those nerds) cos A* Maths is always after reccess.. Buttt... guess what the gay Mrs Ng decided to do? CHANGE THE TIME TABLE.. for the whole day we'd be doing A maths instead of E maths cos we were imrpoving. Bleh Screw that. She scolded me fer leaving my books under the table and bla bla.. And guess what? She was the 1 who confiscated my books. She despises people who leaves their books under the table. Which also goes to show that i haven't been practicing..

Then during English Period. Mrs Yvvone Chong, wait i should say Yvonne, said something bad about me becuase im always cricising people. So i whispered to Benedict * motherfucking bastards* and Yvonne heard it. OMFG.. she said to me i heard that. i was like " Good for u.. whtever" then she said dont be rude.. and i said SCREW U! Infront of her face OMG!!!! OWNNNEDDD

Rightt.and she made me stayback for Reccess to have a chit chat about my behaviour and why i'm allways complacent bla bla bal.. rubbish bullshit !@@#$%^&**#$#!!#@#$@#@ I was fine with staying back cos i've gotta steal some books from the 3-1 RIGHT.. haha so yeah. i took sum stuff.. sum books and stole a few pens.. bleh. haha felt like a thief. and yeah ran off for reccess and still managed to eat! xD

Kay.. then we got back to class had Physics... got back my test paper and i scored.. wtf? 14.1.2/ 25. I WAS LIKE OMFG.. SO LOW? Bt i wasnt surprised cos i never studied.. yeah so i cheated.. haha i changed my D to look like a B and had 1 mark xtra added. OMFG. I LIED, I CHEATED, I STEALED, AND I INsulted all in 1 day.!! W0000TTTTTTT

Then i was off for Mother Tongue classes. haha WE were having a test. and i copied everything from the guys on my left and right. xD haha I hate mt lessons they're all borinng..

Oh yeah so we came out early frm MT Class right.. So i entered the Chinese class and started being gay.. and she was frm china right. so SHE COULDNT SPEAK ENGLISH.. damn.. i was like soo gayy. with her. i went up to her and started talking so much trash and then she screamed at me in chinese " Who asked you to come in" i said. wo de mama, meaning my mom.. haha she didnt replied so i just stood der.

yeah and we had a maths during tat period followed by english then i went hme xD ^^
