NTSS PROJECT OBAMA 2009 5-1, WE NEED CHANGE. A.K.A FUCK THE MAK

Dear Mr. Chan Leong Teck,
Head of Department for Science.

I’m writing this letter to you on behalf of NA5-1.We hope you will read this letter with upmost importance. Our class feels that we are in need of a new Chemistry teacher, one that is better able to understand our needs and focused on getting us distinctions instead of mere passes. We need a teacher that is competent enough to guide us and explain topics in a detailed and comprehensible way.
Ever since Madam Fong left us last year in 2008 we have recede drastically and faced many difficult challenges and questions that we were not able to overcome. That is when, for my class, our future dimmed. I am not exaggerating, chemistry itself is a hard concept to grasp and master especially with all the new topics such as electrolysis and Qualitive analysis. Even probably with a good teacher these topics would be a little tricky, however, for my class it’s not tricky, it’s not. Mr. Mac took over and taught us in a very weird fashion that was totally different from all our previous Science teachers.
That year, the level and class were unable to score an A-1 for our Combined Science. It was not our Physics teacher’s fault in fact she was doing fine and we were able to understand and appreciate her lessons. Our chemistry pulled us down! In the beginning of the year; we as a class were scoring impressive grades and doing remarkably fine, that is till Mr. Mac took over.
Hard or difficult, we as a whole are totally clueless. We as a class try our best to listen to him, but his explanations are often sub-standard and no one is able to understand. Even the textbook can teach better than him, often we have to self-study and go through textbooks and notes given by tuition teachers and friends. The jump ahead from sec 4 NA to sec 5 is big, we need help, and we certainly cannot hope to do well unless our chemistry teacher Mr. Mac is changed. We as a class plead for your understanding and co-operation that we do need a new chemistry teacher.
The words we used here may seem a little harsh but it is the truth, there is a problem and it needs to be fixed. Fixed now! We hope that you will be able to take some time off to come and pay our class a visit after school. We will probably be better able to explain to you our problems and how you can help us, hopefully by this week (without the presence of Mr. Mac). I can arrange for a date and time and the class will stay back to discuss this issue. We really do wish for a better teacher, honestly.

Yours sincerely
