Ah the good old days. Oh wow you mean the REALLY old days. Pre Dire Maul? You mean when Seal of the Crusader increased attack speed AND power with every swing? When hunters could drop off of the flight point mounts with Eyes of the Beast, and when Undead players could be shackled and could speak Common? You mean when someone in full blues was inspected by every player that walked by them? When you could 40 man UBRS? When there werent enough 60s on a server to raid anything so it took 2/3 guilds to merge in order to MAYBE get past Lucifron?


Ah, good times.

3 Points of Contact!
In the 50s and 60s, some smart group of people came out with a general formula/theory that anyone in the world can be related to another person by means of a series of 5 acquaintances.
That means that through 5 other people forming the intermediate nodes, anyone can be linked to me. And it can be anyone in the world that you can be connected to via 5 people.

This came to be known as the Six Degrees of Separation.

Dwelling my thoughts and braincells on this, I started to think of a chair. someone once mentioned to me that any objects, as long as they have 3 points of contact to any solid surface, they are more stable.

Consider this example, a chair with 4 legs, 4 points of contact. If any of the legs are shortened, the chair becomes unstable. And it takes quite a bit of effort to make it stable again, either by means of adding paper to the shorter leg or by shortening other legs.

Now look at the 3 legged chair. No matter which leg is shortened, it remains stable. This explains why camera and video tripods only have 3 legs. Even when I was standing a while ago, with 2 legs on the ground. Leaning towards a wall and allowing my elbow to contact the wall for side support gave me a more stable standing than just 2 legs alone.

3 points of contact forming stability.

Let's look at it from a non-physical angle.
A promise.
When you make a promise, you tell yourself that you will achieve some goal.
Ultimately the 3 points of contact can probably help to make it a more sturdy goal.
When you wed someone, you don't just keep the promise of faithfulness to yourself and your spouse, you ensure that the parents are aware of the promise as well..
3 Points of Contact.

Another example.
You and your best friend.
No one will really know until a 3rd party is aware.
3 points of contact.

A journey.
A journey is never complete without the 3 important criteria.
Start point.
End point.
Path to be taken.
3 points of contact.
Without the 3, the journey will have no start, no end and no direction. Completely unreliable.

First of all I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my letter and considering my situation. I am a student from New Town Secondary School who has been posted to Millennia Institute. I would like to appeal for an entrance into your school, Pioneer Junior College. I have always been aiming for an entrance into a Junior College ever since I entered Secondary School, unfortunately due to certain circumstances and misleading information I was unable to perform to the best of my abilities in Secondary School.

I have always been exceptionally good in the field of Arts / Language and Humanities. I unfortunately was never given the choice or opportunity to pick the subject combination that would have helped me perform to my best, Literature was not an option available to us back then in Secondary 3 as I was in the Normal Academic Stream. I was told by classmates and teachers that Additional Mathematics would be a viable and suitable option for me to pick as it has great benefits for one, who wishes to continue Pre Uni Education ( JC ). I was unable to perform in Add Maths and thus, was constantly failing.

As My O’ level cert shows, I have scored a A1 in English and Combined Humanities (Social Studies / Geography) I believe that if given the chance and opportunity, which I hope you shall give me, I will be able to perform as well as any other student of your school if not, better. I am interested in your Arts Stream and would like to pick Economics / Literature / Geography as my H2 Subjects and Mathematics as my H1. I have won awards, over the years in school for Subjects such as (English Language [2006 & 2007] Literature [2007] & Combined Humanities [2008]). In fact, I am the only student in New Town Secondary School to score an A1 for English for last year’s O level. I am confident that I shall be able to do well in the stream that I have in mind as I believe I am capable of performing in those areas and subjects.
Although I may have only 23 points for L1R5, which is far from the Cut off Point for Pioneer which is 17 I hope that you may consider me carefully and look into my situation I would really really love to enroll in your School! It would be a dream come true for me and I will deliver results and assure you, you shall not be let down by me. Once again I would like to thank you for reading this. Please do allow me to have a future in your school.

So i'm posted to MI, wanted to go and appeal to Innova or Pioneer Junior College, but i doubt i'd be able to enter anyway so i'll just pass on this. i hope i dont regret it. MI's an extra 1 year.. Looks like my Overseas Education is delayed 1 more year! T-T
